Business card

This post contains my research, planning and construction of a business card. This is to be used with potential clients or anyone who may be interested in my work. I learned what to include, the layout and themes of a business card- for example the back and front should show similar colour scheme. This was then adapted into the creation of my own business card- to which is followed the theme of my existing logo. The only difference to my business card and professional ones was the inclusion of an address due to me not operating out of a company address.

Existing products:

Upon research of some existing business cards, I made sure to include most of the information that cropped up on them time and time again such as phone numbers and emails to contact. The only thing I wasn't able to include that was on most of the existing business cards, was the company address and this is purely because I don't function as a business but simply do my work at college or home- neither of which are appropriate for people to reach out to me from.

Also from my research, I found that the front and back of the business card always stayed the same colour scheme but the layout could differ slightly on either side. As long as the colours are correct

and more or less in the same proportion, it makes for a good business card.

Sticking with the pink neon and black theme, my business card includes all necessary information following this same colour scheme theme. There are a total of 3 ways of getting into contact with me (phone, email, instagram) and two ways of viewing my existing work (instagram and websites).

A lot of the business cards include the persons name and which company they're from according to my research. I realised that I should also include my name somewhere on the card (apart form the email) so that people know who they are approaching. I remodelled my business card reverse side to include my name in the top right.

The business card has been a work in progress for a while and has been altered and tweaked over the last few weeks since first creating it. This is mainly changes to the reverse of the card due to one reason or another. This post shows all my drafts and the final products.

With Website changes:

I also had to change the website section after I created my website so that this was included on the business card. I took out the regional identity blogger link and kept only the progression as I felt this was more of industry standard work and me making a name for myself rather than lots of paperwork and research. It shows creative processes more effectively and viewers can easily navigate and find this through my blogger profile.

Final product:

(Some information has been censored to hide personal details)

I received no improvements in my feedback form for this product. However, I was reassured that my business card looked to be from a media related brand and that the information is well laid out and has all the necessary details. Another comment also told me that my colour scheme and texture effect (that was a bit of a risk with the business card as most of the ones I had researched were plain backgrounds) have worked well for me.

Evaluation of my business card:

My business card runs with the same colour scheme as my logo design did with the main theme being black and fluorescent pink in the neon sign style. This is a running theme for my boarders, name and socials logos. The rest of the writing I decided to make white in a simple font in order to not overdo it with the pink. The background also shows a waved black as oppose to simply being all one colour. After experimenting with Photoshop features, I thought that the wave patters made the business card a lot better to look at.

After researching existing business cards, I thought that the inclusions of my phone/email were appropriate ways of contact between me and viewers. The Instagram link and website act as the showing of my work more than a way of contact. In the end I also thought that including my name on the business card was vital. Not only did it conform to the typicality of other business cards but it gives viewers a way to address me and creates at least some familiarity.
